Organized between September 23th and October the 7th, the 12th edition of the Rio de Janeiro Film Festival is considered to be the largest and most important event in the movie industry in all Latin America. The show will include short and regular Brazilian films, documentary and fictional films as well as foreign films. It will be held at Cima Centro de Cultura e Informação e Meio Ambiente.

Orchids in the Springtime 2010

Between September 24th and 29th, Rio de Janeiro will be the proud host of the Orchids in the Springtime 2010 event which will exhibit different species to the delight of the audience. Here, hundreds of flowers will be exhibited from permanent collections and from many Brazilian producers, and here we include the famous OrquidaRio. The event will be held at Rua Jardim Botânico, 1008 – Jardim Botânico.

Rio Industrial Week 2010

The Rio Industrial Week 2010 will be organized between August 4th and 7th and promises to shake up the industrial sector in the southeast part of the country. Here, four distinct events will be held, as follows:

1. The first edition of Solutec – Feira Nacional de Soluções Tecnológicas (technological solutions trade show)

2. Expomac Rio – Brazilian metal and mechanics trade show

3. Eletron – Brazilian trade show for the electrical and electronic industry and industrial automation

4. Feipack Rio – Brazilian packing trade show

5th World Cultures Carnaval

The event will be held between the 20th and 29th of August 2010 and will focus upon the multi-cultural aspects, differences as well as similarities between cultures and will celebrate diversity. There will be dancing, singing, music, poetry and theatre performances for all participants. Workshops will be organized as well as numerous activities for youngsters, children, grown-ups as well as senior residents and tourists.

5th Walking Rio

Organized on the 22th of August, this fifth edition of the Walking Rio event will allow its participants to take a long walk along the breathtaking beaches of Leme, Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, all offering a total of 10 km of natural beauties. There is no age or sex restrictions, which means that everybody is allowed to participate, including handicapped persons. Each will be following their own pace as there won’t be any qualifying stages.

RJ Car Show 18th Edition

Organized at Riocentro – GL Events Centro de Convenções – Av. Salvador Allende, 6.555 – Jacarepaguá, the 2010 edition of the RJ Car Show will reach its 18th annual and consecutive edition and will be the home of many vintage cars, sports cars, classic cars and competitive cars. It will be held between July 16th to 18th (free parking included).

Rio Sports Show 12th Edition

It will be organized between the 15th and 17th of the month at Píer Mauá – Cais do Porto – Av. Rodrigues Alves. This 12th edition will be larger in comparison with the previous shows, capable of offering 20,000 m2, divided into 4 pavilions. An estimate number of visitors is 40,000. The agency is going to put together a model unit of the Academia da Terceira Idade (ATI) (senior citizen’s fitness center).

Rio de Janeiro City Marathon

On the 18th of July, the city will be the competition course of the Rio de Janeiro City Marathon which has been chosen as the most admired marathon in Brazil in 2009 by the readers of Revista O2 magazine – specialized in running. The competition, with 42km, shall start at 7:30am at Recreio dos Bandeirantes and shall go through the city’s paradisiacal scenery of mountains and sea. Here is the full schedule of the event:

8 a.m. – Start: Aterro do Flamengo
11 a.m. – Awarding
Meia-Maratona – 21km
7 a.m. – Start: Praia do Pepe/Barra
11 a.m. – Awarding (na chegada no Aterro do Flamengo)
Maratona – 42km
7:30 a.m. – Start: (Praça Tim Maia, Recreio)
11 a.m. – Awarding (na chegada no Aterro do Flamengo)

Anima Mundi – 18th International Animation Festival of Brazil

The Anima Mundi is an annual festival that brings to the wide Brazilian public a selection of the best national and international movies and videos of the animation world. Presents short and full length movies, serials and commercials produced in various visual and narrative styles and animation techniques. The venue for the event will be Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil, Casa França-Brasil, Cine Odeon BR, Oi Futuro e Estação Botafogo, from July 16th to 25th.
