Between 16 and 24 of July 2011, Rio de Janeiro will host the World Military Games, which is a multi-sports event at sports centers and military facilities. There will be five distinct military competitions, as follows: navy pentathlon, military pentathlon, aeronautic pentathlon, parachuting and orientations.

Flag Day will be organized on November 19th, 2010. The flag is a symbol of national unity and symbolizes respect for the generations that have passed as well as the patriotism and traditions of the national heroes that did everything in their power to maintain Brazil’s sovereignty and integrity as a nation.

On June 6th, the Changing of the Guard at the National Monument in Honor of the Dead in the Second World War will be held with the upmost solemnity and it will follow the ritual that intensifies the importance and significance of the monument.

On the 8th of May, the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil will celebrate the Victory Day – Homage to the Unknown Soldier.
