The Rio Music Conference is an annual event organized every February in Rio and it is considered to be the largest musical get-together in the southern hemisphere. The event will be organized in Marina da Gloria and will be the home of disco bars, workshops, discussions, DJs,m and will showcase a bundle concerts by international and Brazilian musicians.

Oi Noites Cariocas (Oi Rio Nights) is held between January and February of each year and is an eagerly anticipated season of pop and rock concerts. At the event, people have the pleasure to see and hear popular Brazilian artists at the Pier Maua during the city’s relaxing summer nights.

Oi Rio Nights will also be the home of many musicals and other similar events. Some of the most important past performers include Rappa, Zeca Pagodinho, Jorge Ben Jor, Orishas, Os Paralamas, Skank and Lulu Santos.

The exact address for the Oi Noites Cariocas is Avenida Rodrigues Alves, 10. You can get there by metro: to Uruguaiana station located near the port.

National Samba Day

The idea to have a full day of celebrating samba was born at the end of the I National Congress that was organized between November 28th and December 2nd, 1962. It was created by a degree and since then every December 2nd is the National Samba Day in Rio de Janeiro. It is considered to be a tribute to artists and all of those who through the years have turned the Carnival into the most important expression of the Brazilian culture.

In 2007, on October 9th, the IPHAN – National Artistic Heritage Institute advisory comitee voted the approval of the Carioca samba as cultural heritage of Brazil in its three different forms of expression, as follows: “partido alto” samba, backyard samba and samba storylines (plots).

7th Arts Salon Of The Brazilian Academy Of The Environment
